For those who read on their phone... What app do you use? What makes the experience superior to others? I'm looking for genuine feedback on a reading platform I built.
I built a social reading platform that maps your subconscious reading preferences against the elements within books to match you with the perfect books over and over again.
We recently just onboarded our first author. In theory our recommendation algorithm should completely unlock and personalize discoverability for the publishing industry...
But the elephant in the room is that our ability to serve you the perfect book hinges on having a large enough library. BUT, if we only have 1 author that capability breaks down. And if we can't ACTUALLY serve readers books they'll love, they won't show up. And if we cant prove that we can get authors readers, then we won't attract more authors and we won't be able to grow the library.
So, I'm wondering if anyone would be wiling to try out the platform and give me honest feedback to help me make the reading/user experience more enjoyable. Is there anything other apps do much better? Any absolute deal breakers or must haves for you? I'd be grateful for anyone willing to give it a shot.
A few disclaimers for anyone who's curious:
- We're currently web only so you do need to be on wifi/data.
- We can't offer free E-books for a few reasons: A. Authors maintain all their rights so we don't have the liberty to make that decision for them. B. In order to raise capital Typesheet needs to show revenue. C. There are operating costs to maintain the servers etc. D. Showing that authors can make real money will be a huge help in attracting more.
- However, we're giving verification badges to the first batch of users. This can help you build a voice of influence if you care about that sort of thing.
