Purple heart help
Hello, fairly new to woodworking (about 6 months or so really getting into it). I've got this piece of purple heart I'm using for a small shelf, it came off a live edge slab. The figuring looks great but that whitish area towards the top center is coming through even with finish and multiple standings (standard 80-120-180-220-240). I most recently did two coats of Rubio on it and that area just stayed a much more matte texture than the rest of it. That area area is also slightly rougher than the surrounding surface no matter how much I sand it. It doesn't need to be perfect but I'd like the finish to be a bit more uniform.
Any recommendations on what to do with that area? Just keep soaking it with oil until it blends in? I didn't want to waste a bunch of Rubio trying if it wasn't going to work.
