Recently went for a camping trip near jim corbett, but not the usual crowded spots. This was somewhere deep inside kotabagh valley, near a small village called Malla Syat and honestly, it felt completely different.
No resorts, no noise, no tourist rush...just forests, mountains and pure silence.
We stayed at camp kyari, and the whole experience was raw and real. The kind where you wake up to birds instead of alarms, and at night, it's so quiet you can actually hear the forest. At one point, we even heard distant wildlife sounds- which was a bit scary but also exciting.
There’s a small stream nearby (Baur river), super clean and peaceful. Most of our time was just spent walking around, sitting near the water, or doing nothing—which surprisingly felt amazing.
Tried a few things like night walks, a bit of trekking, and some bird watching. But honestly, the best part was just slowing down. No distractions, no pressure—just being there.
Food was simple, stay was different (machaan style), and everything felt very close to nature. Not luxury, but that’s exactly what made it special.
This trip made me realize how refreshing it is to disconnect for a bit. We spend so much time rushing, complaining, stressing… and then a place like this just resets everything.
If you like offbeat places and real experiences over fancy stays, you should definitely try something like this.
Anyone else been to Kotabagh or explored lesser-known places near Corbett?
