Komi and Manbagi rivalry is peak writing from the beginning and it established romantic chemistry and conflict between Komi and Managing over who has the rights to be his girlfriend. It was wonderful experience from arguments, sharing Tadano, feeling empathy and change to bond with each other while their rivalry blooms.
However back when Kawaii is beginning full debut on chapter 477, many fans were hyped that Kawaii would be questioned and developed as Komi which it would be repeated but the rivalry was mid. After Komi won and everything resolved, Kawaii starting to think about polygamy and I have an problem with this and many people complain including me this issue which is me trying to remember is that:
- Relying on backstory only - Backstory isn't bad especially since Kawaii is abandoned by neglectful family especially when her parents died. Instead, it doesn't focus the present in order to build her character and her backstory established as perfect girl as Komi but it slips away and never to be used again
- Kawaii asking polygamy but Komi and Tadano refused. Which I don't mind about that but the conflict immediately throw away and leaving the rivalry wasted potential and more plot device or plot DECOY
- She would have her complex character from sadness, regret, silent to redemption for her mistakes but her redemption potential fades and becoming Tadano and Komi's servant like or door mat or something.
In my conclusion, Kawaii isn't bad character but more of wasted potential and if her writing is building from the start of the rivalry, she would be important character for Tadano and Komi but abandoned the rivalry made her being another character which is weak character writing
