Hi everyone!

I want to ask what might be an obvious question: in general, is it a good deal to get this stone for $5700 (total price, including VAT taxes in EU, ~$4300 pre-tax)?

This diamond was on a Catawiki auction from a seller with many positive reviews, so I’m fairly confident it’s authentic. This is the "second chance" offer I received after the bidding failed to meet the reserve price.

The diamond looks like it has great color in the photos and generally solid specs. However, my main concern is that it is IGI-certified. From what I’ve heard, there’s often no reason to certify a high-value natural diamond through IGI unless it can’t achieve the same rating from the GIA (though this specific seller seems to use IGI almost exclusively).

My specific worries are:

• Color Overgrading: Since it’s graded "Vivid," how likely is it that the GIA would actually grade it as "Fancy Yellow" or "Intense"?

• Undertones: Is there a high risk of a hidden brownish, greenish, or grayish overtone?

• Value: Are these valid concerns for a stone at this price point?

From the pictures, it looks like a nice "canary" yellow to me, but those are the only photos I have. I’m not planning to regrade it or resell it - it’s for personal use - but I still want to ensure I’m owning something of actual value.

I’m seeking advice from this subreddit regarding the stone and whether this is a fair deal.

Thanks!
