Help - Am I B Mo uying a Cocker Spaniel or a Cross Breed?

Hi everyone, this is my second post on this subreddit and I’m looking for everyone’s advice.

I put a post up a few days ago about a new cocker spaniel puppy I am buying but I am getting increasingly worried that this is not a pure bred cocker and is in fact some kind of mix.

I have asked multiple AI chat bots who have come back as saying it likely looks like a cocker/ dashund mix, I’m aware AI can make mistakes but to have 3 out of the 4 AI’s I asked come back with the same dashund mix conclusion fills me with a lot of doubt.

I have seen the mother in person (white and brown) but not the father (black and white).

The other worrying fact is that the puppy has been weighed today at the vets: 1.15kg at 7 weeks old, which seems underweight for a purebred cocker and more inline with a toy dog mix.

AI also made a good point that there is a “Merle” dog in the litter which is apparently biologically and genetically impossible for two purebred dogs.

Does anyone have any advice or guidance for me.

Thank you!

Put a deposit down on this beauty over the bank holiday weekend, have wanted a cocker since I was a kid and finally saved up enough to get him!

Only problem is, he’s a working spaniel and I’m worried I may not have the time for him.

What I’m most worried about it the temperament and not being able to meet his energetic needs. That being said, I met the mother who was the most gentle laid back working spaniel and I’m hoping that he picks up his mother’s temperament.
