When vintage comes up in my rotation, it feels so horrible the first couple days after switching back to thick af modern Omega.

These old Omega watches were Patek and AP thin.

(Save yourself time if you're about to comment on the replacement dial. This is highly detailed, top quality Jongno work, and it's a major upgrade vs the stock silver, imo.)

"They're trash"

"Avoid"

"Flimsy"

The internet has a lot of feelings about the 1000 series calibers of the 1970s. But my experience is that this 50-year old Seamaster continues to be a reliable watch.

Ngl, it feels rather crunchy going through the setting process. The way you have to hunt for positions on the crown pull, and the slight grinding felt on day/date adjustment, aren't exactly "Swiss watch" experiences. However, once that task is done, the watch performs well. It keeps time better than some of my modern Omega coaxials do.

I own Swiss watches from each decade 1960 to present, including current gen, newest Rolex. Despite owning watches in my collection 10-15 times more expensive, with the latest advancements, I don't find the 1022 to be a meaningfully different wearing experience.
