My almost 7 year old Himalayan always clears the bowl once it drops and last week 4/19 she stopped eating. Took her to the vet a few times and got ultrasounds and blood work and they suspect IBD. No other symptoms than the loss of appetite. Vet started her on daily 5mg prednisone last Thursday 4/23, along with cerenia and Mirataz, and also gave her a B12 shot and fluids. They also had her transition to Royal Canine Hydrolyzed Protein dry food.
By Friday her eating started ramping up a bit more and more, and her behavior started normalizing a bit (more play). Anyway - it’s the 5th day of pred and her first day with no cerenia and Mirataz and she’s still kind of held steady at 2-3 tablespoons of food a day (maintenance calories would be 9-10).
Behavior is totally normal otherwise and had a solid poop yesterday, but just wondering how long it took for people who had similar situations with their cats to get back to normal eating after a flare? Should I be expecting to see more improvement by now?
