Legal trouble for ex getting food stamps?
So my ex and I were together since 2020, had a child in 2022, and broke up 2025. We were never married, and since 2021 I was the main provider and would even give my ex a monthly allowance to be a stay at home dad. At some point in 2023, he started getting food stamps without my knowledge. He put that he was a single dad and that I was not in the picture. I told him to stop and he said he did, but in 2024 I found out he never stopped. He never even used the money to pay for anything for our child, he used it to only buy food for himself and his dogs. I again told him to stop but he then started using it to buy formula for our child which was expensive and I was struggling paying for everything on my own and he refused to get a job to help me so I just let him be. Then in 2025 when we separated he forced me to pay him $1500/month for a year to take his name off the title to my house so I can keep it even though he never helped me with any mortgage payments. I recently found out he’s been getting food stamps again even though I know he wouldn’t qualify with the money I’m giving him and he also told me he works under the table as a bar back. He keeps threatening me with taking our child away from me and I got so fed up I reported him for food stamps fraud without realizing I may also get in trouble because I knew about it? What’s going to happen to me? For reference, I am in Nevada. I submitted an anonymous complaint and they’re asking if the mother of the child knew he was getting the food stamps while they were together. I looked up that if you knew your partner was getting food stamps when they weren’t supposed to that you could also be charged for failure to report and have to repay the food stamps along with the person that took them out.
