building inside walls

This may be a dumb question but how is everyone I see building stuff inside the walls of their castle?

I remember when EA came out there was a mod that let you kind of do it but it was weird and kinda broke the game.

Do you build the manor first or do you build the manor around preexisting structures, I'm a confused little guy rn

What Got You Guys Into Armour?

Since I was a kid I've had an obsession with medieval/fantasy armor. Video games, films, books and TV the first thing I look at is armour and I always appreciate a piece of media more when the armour is super cohesive and has a clear visual identity that fits the setting.

I imagine a lot of people here can relate so if you feel like it drop some stuff that left an impression on you, historical, fantasy, sci fi anything.

Tldr these armours are cool and I want to know what you guys think is cool

Both in prime, both kitted, no terrain or hazards and no backstabbing side characters/guerillas.

Personally my money's on Selmy but I think it's an even bout.

I am losing my mind trying to remember this and I remember really enjoying them as a kid any help would be appreciated.

2000's

Fiction

Paperback I imagine

UK Children's/YA maybe

So by my memory the first book follows a teen runaway who leaves a bad situation with his autistic coded brother (Danny maybe???) who has some physical abnormalities, antics ensue, he's really good at swimming, they end up in a Scottish commune/safehouse for other runaways which turns out to be a kind of X-Men like safe haven for mutants (they may also have been made there) as the book(s) progress they follow the boys and the world devolves into an apocalypse, they hole up in the commune, antics ensue, Bigfoot(?), Yeti(?), Merman(?), we discover Danny is half dolphin and he's barrel chested

I also DISTINCTLY remember there being like spin off books after the book(s) that follow the people who start the commune possibly the guy who made(?) the mutants and also maybe a scenario way after the apocalypse exploring the mutants rebuilding.

These books were amazing and had me gripped and influenced my love of books as a whole and I can't remember the name of the series nor have I met anyone else who's read them, also because of the subject matter I sound like Alex Jones trying to explain the plot. Did I imagine these books?

Thanks in advance.

I've been reading fire and blood and rewatching the main series and plan to switch over to HotD when the writing drops off.

There is one thing I can't get out of my head and it's not really a criticism but I just can't stop thinking about it. The Greens are the "Establishment" in what is essentially an open rebellion, so why would they change THEIR heraldry?? In a world where heraldry and the symbolism it contains is really important and with all the division between the Targaryens wouldn't the established faction that holds the majority of Westeros and from day one has a King who is on the throne, crowned I'm the eyes of the masses and if you listen to them is true claimant, surely then changing your heraldry from that of your house be a kind of implicit suggestion that in many ways you aren't the "True Targaryen" and signal to the masses and your men that in many ways they represent Hightower influence more than the Targaryen one they are ostensibly fighting to protect?? Like a random peasant who has no understanding of the politics behind the conflict or the players involved can at a moments glance make a connection that the crown is in some way a different entity with Hightower influence and that implicitly validates the Reds entire point.

I understand the lines had been drawn before Viserys died and Otto had a reputation as the power behind the Throne but even so I think it makes more sense within the world that the crown would even humour the idea they were different from those who sat the throne before them by changing their heraldry. Maybe in an unofficial capacity it would make more sense, Green loyalists and men at arms marking their shields with a green crown or even just going with the already existing design with the green background but as I said on a regimental scale rather than a state one.

Also I understand the inverse is absolutely true Rhaenyra keeps the traditional colours because by and large the Reds are more traditional Targaryens politically and culturally. I guess it's also the way to signal visually to the audience/readers that the Reds are the "Pure and True Targaryens", take that as you will.

Like I said I'm not going to say I could do a better job world building than one of the most gifted fantasy writers in history I obviously couldn't. It's just a choice I can't stop thinking about. Hopefully this post will get it out of my head.
