I’m F45 and I head a team in my organisation in India. I’m quite active socially, however, I don’t actively go and seek my colleagues on social media platforms. Two people from my own team started following me on Instagram and I decided to follow them back to be courteous. We just had our appraisals and some of them did well while some didn’t. One of them actually liked this meme that came up on my feed. Like it’s obviously fine that they have an opinion on their raise. However, as their boss, I feel their raise and the work they are doing are both ok. Literally today I asked them to do something that I just ended up doing in the interest of time (and I’m not going to hold this against them or penalise them in any way about the task). I always accommodate any and all issues they face. I recognise that we’re all there for the salary and I felt like ever so slightly annoyed at seeing this post. My question is - should I unfollow them? This way it won’t matter what they post on their personal account. What would you recommend?
