Hello! I’m traveling from Europe (Romania) to Peru in September and I’d love some itinerary advice.

I don’t want the trip to feel rushed or like we’re in a constant state of exhaustion — I want to truly enjoy each place we visit — but at the same time I’d like to cover the main highlights, considering this will probably be our first and last visit.

We love natural landscapes, authentic places, food, but also vibrant cities with fun experiences and nightlife. Unfortunately, we only have 13 nights, and this is the itinerary we came up with:

It’s also worth mentioning that we’ll have checked luggage and we’re trying not to spend too much money, which is why we didn’t book flights to more destinations such as Arequipa :(

Do you think we are spending too much time in Lima? We could also do some day trips from Lima if you have any recommendations, although I would still like to have enough time to enjoy the city itself.

Sept 11 – Lima

Sept 12 – Lima

Sept 13 – Lima

Sept 14 – Flight to Cusco → transfer to Ollantaytambo

Sept 15 – Ollantaytambo (we haven’t decided yet what to visit, recommendations welcome)

Sept 16 – Aguas Calientes

Sept 17 – We have Machu Picchu tickets at 7 AM, after that we will head to Cusco

Sept 18 – Cusco (no plans yet)

Sept 19 – Cusco (no plans yet)

Sept 20 – Rainbow Mountain / Palccoyo depending on how well we acclimatize

Sept 21 – Flight back to Lima

Sept 22 – Lima

Sept 23 – Lima

Sept 24 – Flight back home

P.S. What clothes or equipment would you recommend for this time of year in September?

Any advice is welcome 🤗
