To the three divers I left behind…
I was running a mission with 3 sub level 50 divers. I’m 150, but who cares...
I was farming POI’s while they did the main mission objectives… it was a flag raising mission. They were giving it all they had. Got one flag done, lost more than half of the re-enforcements in the process.
To help boost morale, I had my kid recite poetry to them over the comms. He got Democratic compliments. Poetry well received. Morale intact.
Meanwhile, 40 or so supercredits later, they began on the 2nd flag… less than 5 re-enticements left. Then I got the news… my wife was ready to leave for Mothers Day brunch.
I joined up with them, and threw down my Orbital Laser helping them finish off the 2nd flag. One more to go. I gave them the news, but threw down a Stalwart and a Shield Mech. I offered it to them, gave them some words of inspiration and regrettably began to log off. It was with a heavy heart, I had to accept the consequences of my decision to abandon my squad in their moment of great importance, but then the all grouped up around me… and saluted me. Democratic-like.
My heart sank, making my leaving them even more heart breaking.
I‘ll never know if they pulled it off. If they were successful or not, but I believe in those guys. In my heart, they are already heroes. Should we ever meet again, let it be known, that I’ll go into the bowels of hell with those champions.
