At the end of 2024, having platinum-ed Elden Ring I was looking for my next Fromsoftware fix and so embarked on Sekiro. My first attempt wasn't successful so I put it away for a few weeks and came back.
I then proceeded to steadily progress, with help from Fighting Cowboy, all the way to near the end until the Demon of Hatred.
"How hard could this be?", I thought - I just vanquished Owl Father! Boy was I so wrong. I tried and tried. Watched multiple tips videos. But kept failing. I kept using up all my spirit emblems and divine confetti and gradually got disheartened. I even tried the cheese but couldn't make the jump! So, disillusioned, I put the game away in April last year.
ONE WHOLE YEAR LATER, I'm not sure what it was, but I picked it up again last week determined to beat this guy.
I thought, "hell, I'm not going to bother with the umbrella, malcontent whistle, divine confetti or even any combat arts. Just me and my katana.
Today, after a straight 3 hours I got him! I take some extra pride from the fact that I just turned 50 a few months ago and so also allayed any fears that my reflexes had dulled 😂.
My kids (teenagers) are not impressed so I thought I'd share it all with you all here ☺️.
Right now on to Isshin 😬
TLDR: 50 year old souls player finally beats Demon of Hatred after a year long break from Sekiro.
