Bew Origo Everyday Sneakers
So I just received my new Orrico everyday sneakers and I do like them. I ordered the men’s version hoping they would be a bit wider; not sure if they are or not, but they are very comfortable. The cinnamon color leather is a very orangey brown and I actually like that. I will be replacing the shoelaces with an elastic version that looks similar so that I can slip them on more easily. I find it interesting that they chose to use such wide flat shoelaces placed into small round holes and also that they did not add shoelace lugs so that the shoelaces can actually slide, because these don’t. It’s very hard to move the laces around whether it’s widening them to put your foot in or tightening them.
The one thing that really irks me about them is that Origo glued down the insole. I am not impressed with the insole. It seems pretty cheap. I wanted to remove it and replace it with a cork insole for sockless use and substitute in one with a bit more padding for when I wear them with socks and for a longer day of walking. Thinking I could pry up the insole, I basically shredded one of them on one of the shoes trying to remove it. I was unsuccessful at getting a big portion of it out. It wasn’t completely glued down, but the parts that are glued don’t seem to want to budge. Not sure why they chose to do this. I know lots of people completely remove insoles on their barefoot shoes, and also just as many choose to replace the insole for something that meets their needs more than the original one.
