Rear Ended and Almost Physically Assaulted
Hello, my SIL recently got into a car accident where a driver rear ended her at a red light. This took place in California.
What should have been a pretty easy exchange of car insurance and information turned out to be a very distressing situation for my SIL.
The driver that hit her came up to her window and started banging on it demanding her insurance cards. Then proceeded to make racist remarks and cursing her out.
It got the point that police officers had to show up to assist with the exchange of information because the driver kept saying that my SIL probably didn’t even have insurance because of the way she looked.
My sister in law suffers from anxiety and was making good progress and this set her back a few steps back. She’s now having to speak to her therapist again and even missed a few days of work.
I’m trying to help her with dealing with insurance and asking if we should maybe look into getting legal advice for something like this? Or is it not even worth the hassle. Any advice is appreciated.
Rear ended damage was not too bad. Body shop quoted her at 1800.00. This quote includes window damage from the banging.
