How did you figure out how many carbs you could actually eat?

One thing I keep noticing is that a lot of people with type 2 or prediabetes get told to “cut carbs” but not really told what that means.

Like… cut them completely? eat less bread and rice? avoid fruit? only count sugar? count total carbs?

I’m curious how people here figured out their own carb limit or what foods worked for them.

Did you use a meter, a food log, trial and error, a dietitian, or just slowly change meals?

Also what carb foods surprised you the most, good or bad?

What’s the hardest diabetic-friendly meal to figure out?

I’m curious what meal people struggle with the most when trying to eat better for blood sugar.

For me it seems like breakfast and snacks are the most confusing because so many easy options are bread, cereal, fruit, juice, crackers, etc.

What was hardest for you?

Breakfast?
Lunch?
Dinner?
Snacks?
Eating out?
Grocery shopping?

And what meal or snack became your “safe option” when you didn’t want to think too much?

Newly diagnosed / prediabetic… did anyone else feel completely lost about food?

I keep seeing so much different advice online and it honestly makes eating feel stressful.

Some people say go low carb, some say keto, some say just eat balanced, some say test every food because everyone reacts different.

For anyone with prediabetes or type 2, what confused you the most in the beginning?

Was it carbs, breakfast, snacks, eating out, grocery shopping, or just not knowing what was “safe” anymore?

I feel like “eat healthy” sounds simple but in real life it’s not that clear.
What actually helped you stop feeling so lost?
