Advice needed: take to vet now or later, keep separating or no?

Hi all,

I’m a first time double cat owner (not first time owner, but first time with 2 cats who came home together). These are Alola (the torbie) and Hana (the longhaired).

I brought them home from the rescue last Friday, and I’m having some concerns. I already have 2 vet visits scheduled, one for this afternoon and 1 for next Tuesday.

Since Saturday night, Alola has been throwing up every night overnight. She doesn’t seem to be eating much, and she pretty much only hides. The vomit Saturday and Sunday nights were pink, which is why I have the vet visits scheduled already. Monday’s was very small and had a couple pieces of kibble in it (normal color) but last night’s was larger again (still normal color).

I think she was improving somewhat- Sunday and Monday she chose to rest in her carrier instead of under the couch or the bed, I caught her going into the litter box, and I know she pooped so she was definitely eating.

But last night, I weighed the food I gave her and she ate maybe 2g of wet food, 0 dry. She did pee, and I know she drank, but nothing else. She’s back under the couch.

I have to admit, there’s been some sources of stress beyond just moving to a new place: I was sent home with eyedrops for Hana, which meant disturbing both of them multiple times a day. Yesterday, I attempted to take Alola to the vet because I suspected it might be her who was throwing up, but due to an unexpected amount of traffic, I wasn’t going to make it in time to be able to do any actual examination and had to cancel and move it to next week. So I brought her out in the car for 30min for nothing.

A friend suggested keeping them separated overnights so I could confirm which of them was throwing up. I did that last night, so I can now say it’s definitely Alola. Hana seemed perfectly fine: she came up on the bed with me, and let me brush her this morning. She definitely ate and drank and used the litter box last night.

The next vet appointment is today, originally scheduled for Hana. Should I try to bring Alola to the vet again today, or wait til next week and see if she improves? Or is the pink vomit from Sat/sun too urgent? Should I keep separating them, or is that just more stress Alola probably doesn’t need?
