[SUCCESS STORY] Out-of-warranty ROG Strix G16 (2023) motherboard failure resolved by ASUS Executive Care

Hey everyone, I wanted to share the final update on my ROG Strix G16 (G614JV) that died with a burning smell a few weeks ago.

The Situation: Unit purchased in the US, I'm currently living in Angola (Africa), and the 1-year standard warranty had already expired. It looked like a total loss, but I decided to fight for a resolution based on the 'latent defect' nature of the failure.

What I did:

  1. I bypassed the standard chat and sent a technical, firm email to the ASUS Executive Care Team.

  2. I focused on the safety risk (burning odor) and the fact that this specific 2023/2024 line has documented power delivery issues.

  3. ASUS escalated the case and coordinated with a local authorized service center in Luanda, Angola.

  4. They shipped a replacement motherboard internationally and authorized a free repair as a gesture of goodwill.

The Result: The laptop is repaired, tested, and working like new. I’m moving to Russellville, Kentucky, later this year, and I'm relieved I'll have my main machine back for the transition.

The Lesson: If your premium ROG hardware suffers a critical electrical failure, don't just settle for a generic 'out of warranty' rejection. Document everything, emphasize the safety hazard, and reach out to the corporate/executive level. Huge thanks to the ASUS Executive team for standing behind their product even in a complex international scenario!
