Adding a picture in the middle of a page problem

Hi, I've been playing around with adding an image to my homebrewery page. Every reference I've found has the curly brackets putting the image in the top left.

I'm trying to have text in 2 columns, then a split in the page that resets the columns using the "---" option (which also adds a thin grey line across the page), then the picture spanning the whole page, then another --- split, then more text in the normal 2 columns layout.

I know my picture is wider than the normal page, but what I read suggests that the program will resize the picture to fit. However, my picture starts on the left side and continues off the other side of the page into oblivion. How do I get the picture to resize down and be centered on the page where I want it? Here is what I have been using:

{{wide

![Not_Sure_What_This_Means](https://i.imgur.com/7NtdAp4x.jpeg)

}}

If the width of the picture does matter, what is the maximum image width?

Thanks for any help!

Split a page so that columns above and below the split are separate?

Ok, I realized the search on here works pretty well, so I deleted my last dumb question, but this one still eludes me. Right now, a page has two columns and doesn't split until you get to the bottom of the page. I want to be able to add a split within a page, so that there are two columns above and two new columns below, if that makes sense?

I've tried using the --- option after adding that to styles, but it only works with "column-span: all" added to the code, which means I can't use the --- for a single column. Is there another way? Thanks!
