PSA : Omega might be leaving your ADs
Walked into my usual AD a week ago to be put on a list for a Speedy Reverse Panda and told no outright, because "Omega isn't taking orders".
It was weird, and I also noticed alot of the display items were gone.
Tried for a White and Sapphire Sandwich too, but was told the same. They only had Hesalite for the Pro model.
I thought the AD lost the contract, so I tried 2 different AD chains and was told the same. Finally walked into the OB, and the SA sheepishly smiled and told me Omega is leaving the ADs and will only be opening boutiques moving forward. Not sure if it is country, region or global strategy.
Got me questioning their strategy. I'm sure alot of first time buyers walk into ADs to ask for Rolex then purchase an Omega, because it is available and next known brand there. Also, I believe they dropped in rankings for watch sales in 2025, so unless they think their own SAs can close better, this is just a disaster waiting to happen. Omega would need their better margin direct selling to at least offset the very substantial increase in overheads from opening and maintaining own boutique. It is more likely they will increase prices again to achieve this.
Anyways....just wanted to give this PSA, just in case you already have a profile with an AD and waiting to pull try trigger. Might want to expedite it, before Omega really decides to leave the ADs in your country too.
PS : I went back to my AD and grabbed that Moonwatch on the same exact day (and got some humble price adjustment to go along with it). Much rather buy from them since I have a few other watches from other brands I want.
The Omega SA kept going on about how building profile with them would get me a Snoopy or 321, but I didn't get why I would have 3 separate Speedies unless I'm an Omega fan rather than a watch fan.
Couldn't wait for Speedy Tuesday, so I'm wearing it on Monday.
PSPS : I totally get what people say now about how difficult it is to read the time on the Reverse Panda (I tried it on at the OB previously)
Pspsps : Pictures have been AI-edited to remove an identifying birthmark, though as I say this, I could still be identifying myself.
