How do I work out my salary expectations for a position in Shenzhen?
Hello, foreigner here. I'm about to start negotiations for a position in Shenzhen. The talent rep is asking for my expected salary, and I've no idea how to go about working it out. I'm so unfamiliar with things like rental rates, tax brackets (especially) etc that I don't know where to start. I'm in my 40s but it'll be my first time working abroad so I guess I need help with my thinking process.
I guess I don't know what I don't know. So I'm asking if anyone can share how they went about theirs, that would be really helpful.
The rough JD is below, but really any advice or learnings at all would really be helpful. Things like hidden costs, what I should negotiate for as part of the package, any watchouts etc. Thank you!
JD: A number 2 brand creative person in the company, responsible for branding and advertising creative output across markets. I've got over 15 years experience in ad agencies. There may be another person in the same role as me, so essentially joint number 2s. I'd report to the global head of creative branding.
