I have a deal with my girlfriend. She watches Kill Tony with me when it airs, and we watch anything of her choosing after. For the past few months, her post-Kill Tony choice has been Ru Paul's Drag Race.
It started as cringe, and unwatchable; basically what she first thought of Kill Tony. That's until I realized drag is basically a different form of comedy; somewhere along the lines of clowning, character comedy, or parody. Some of these queens are real natural comedians, and would absolutely KILL on Kill Tony if they were ever brave enough to put their name in the bucket.
I also have to point out the similarities between Ru Paul and Tony. Both are controlling hosts, whose opinions far outweigh any input from the panelists. Both have a highly critical, but still humorous form of nurturing talent. Both provide opportunities to up and comers in their industry. And, I suspect both may be gay.
Some will down-vote this because I'm comparing Kill Tony to anything in support of LGBTQ. Some will down-vote because it's obvious, and of course drag is comedy and I'm stupid for just realizing this.
The only purpose of this post is to point out how two very different shows, catering to two very different audiences, are actually very similar. Keep an open mind when exploring new media - there's overlap you'd never expect.
Up-vote if you think: (a) Tony should make an appearance on Drag Race for a comedy-centric episode, or (b) more drag-queens should enter their names in the bucket and feel confident going up for a minute.
