I’ve never posted here before, but looking to find people in the same boat. I’m 30 years old, have been diagnosed with IBS since I was around 14. I have never had a colonoscopy as my GP has never offered me one, but I’ve had many stool samples which have all come back negative. I stopped eating gluten 15 years ago and my symptoms go through stages of being ok. I get daily bloating, but I feel like I’m really used to this. Recently, I’ve been having pellet like stools during the week at work, then normal/looser BMs at the weekend. This has been frustrating me as there was a stage where I was having regular BMs before work, but this has changed. My biggest setback is around once a month ish (sometimes more) I have what I call ‘attacks’ where I’ll have sudden pain, gas and explosive diarrhea. It often lasts a couple of hours, I shake, have to take my clothes off and it wipes me out for the next day. I’ve been doing research into it, and I think I’ve realised that they happen after a large meal, especially when I haven’t eaten the rest of the day… looking online, it seems that I’m triggering the gastrocolic response too quickly which is giving me symptoms - does anyone relate to this? Has anyone got any tips and tricks to make me not focus my life around my stomach? It’s taking its toll now!
