Hi all. I work at CIWF US, and wanted to share an urgent action for anyone in the U.S.

A harmful provision in the House Farm Bill, Section 12006 (also called the EATS Act / Save Our Bacon Act), would block states from setting animal welfare standards.

In practice, that means it could undermine laws like California’s Prop 12, which protect animals from some of the worst confinement systems in factory farming, like gestation crates.

There is still a chance to stop it. An amendment to strike Section 12006 from the Farm Bill, and House members need to hear from constituents now.

If you’re in the U.S., you can take action here:
https://action.ciwf.com/page/177586/action/1 but there are so many other groups acting on this today.

You can also call your House Representative through the Capitol Switchboard:
(202) 224-3121

A simple message is:

>Hi, my name is [Name], and I’m a constituent from [City/State]. I’m calling to urge Representative [Name] to co-sponsor and vote yes on the Luna Amendment to strike Section 12006 from the Farm Bill. This provision would undermine state animal welfare and food safety laws and hurt small farmers. Thank you.

If you have a few minutes today or Monday, please take action and share with others. This really matters right now.
