So today I was in the garden and I noticed an apple tree looked like it had its bark removed just a centimetre above ground. Upon a closer look and removing some of the soil around it I found the damage goes about 20 centimeters below ground, the bark entirely removed on one side of the tree. The whole tree seems a bit unstable now as the ground below it is full of those 2-3 centimeters holes.
Since below post I was thinking voles, but now, trees? Do voles eat the bark from trees and their roots?
