Whistleblower protections?
I work in a broken environment
I have spent the last several years raising concerns- formally and informally, verbally/in writing/through IMS/Riskman etc around a number of issues
-staff safety- hours of work, fatigue, incidents of sexual harassment in the workplace, patient/visitor violence and aggression
-poor medication management practices- medicines being inappropriately nurse initiated, drug counts being faked, lack of documentation around some medicines, medicines being given when contraindicated or the patient is allergic
-performance management concerns around some staff who do very little and leave a far higher workload to the others, students/new grads being unsupported, struggling and making errors
Nothing much has been done about any of it. It culminated last year in me making an ahpra referral about one particularly egregious coworker. This was dismissed by Ahpra a couple of months back
Since then, I have found myself being persistently investigated- noted audited, overtime/timesheets audited, sudden questions about how much sick leave, etc
I am in contact with the union but does anyone have advice around this or whether whistleblower protections would be useful?
