Firstly, my condolences to anyone affected by layoffs.
I’m very curious though- With all the news and speculation about recent and upcoming layoffs, I’m curious to know how much this affects the local market.
In my city (300k ppl) there are no big firms/offices, so any RIF from one of the regional firms doesn’t have a big impact. At most, maybe 3-5 people have left at once. Usually, they find a new position within a month.
I’m curious to know what this looks like in bigger cities? Are there dozens of people affected at one office, and is it super hard for people to find good jobs after a layoff bc it’s more competitive?
