You know it’s time when styling your hair starts feeling less like getting ready and more like negotiating with reality.

There’s that small glimpse of hope when you get it to sit just right, when a little product and the perfect angle give it somewhat of a shape. But deep down, you already know the top and the back have faded past the point of pretending. It becomes a routine of standing in front of the mirror, moving strands around, trying different products, different cuts, different ways to cover just enough to feel comfortable walking out the door.

So yes, there’s a little sweet sorrow in saying goodbye. There are nerves that come with change. You wonder how you’ll look, whether you’ll feel more self-conscious with it all gone, whether it’ll become a new insecurity instead of the old one. But there’s also something freeing about finally letting go of the daily battle. No more creative styling. No more checking every mirror. No more hoping the lighting is forgiving.

It may sound dramatic, but a lot of men know exactly what this feels like. It’s not just about hair. It’s about accepting change before change keeps making the decision for you.

I know it’s time. I’m nervous, but I’m ready to embrace it. Now I’m just asking honestly — do you think I could pull it off?
