New electric or induction cooktop installation questions...
It looks like my home is equipped with an old ITE/Pushmatic/Bulldog circuit box. It has one column of 120v dual rails to make 240v? I'm assuming that means it is 100 amps?
My current electric cooktop is cracked and needs replaced. The 240v circuit it is currently on is 30 amps. I was looking at getting a 50 amp induction cooktop. My main question is, would it be as simple as replacing the circuit breaker from 30 amp to 50 amp? Like a P250? Or what are the problems in doing so? I'm assuming that just means I would want limit overall capacity usage while cooking?
Or should I just replace with another 30 amp electric cooktop and avoid the headache of upgrading to induction? I don't want to have to update to a 200 amp box just to accommodate if it causes too many problems.
