Rewatched GOT With My Wife Who Saw It For the First Time And It All Falls Apart In Season Seven

My wife never saw GOT when it was first airing. She finally decided to start about 6 weeks ago. She fell in love with the first season, binged it all and loved it until we got to season 7 and absolutely hated 8 and the ending. in her words, “all the hype of the first seasons and buildup of Jon and Dany for Dany to be evil and get murdered by Jon and then Bran sits on the throne???? What the fuck!“ Made no sense based on in-universe logic and show logic. Just an asspull.

I thought this was important because I heard that people who binge it all at once, say it’s a bit better. It is not.

After rewatching some of it with her, season 7 is where it all fell apart in terms of story, characters and logic. Season 7 has great hype moments and characters like Dany and Jon meeting, and I think we all got sucked into the hype moments when it first aired but it lacks story and has so many logical flaws. Like Dany not invading King’s Landing or just destroying Cersei’s army right away with a superior force makes no logical sense. The zombie retrieval mission made zero sense and Jon having random plot armor to survive. The story line with the Stark sisters wasn’t fully fleshed out. Just so much bs. It’s clear DnD can’t write in this universe on their own and their takeaway from books is to do the unexpected to shock the audience. GRRM’s shocking moments in the books are more developed and earned through careful writing, buildup, in universe logic and character choices.

Made me disappointed in the show again and what could have been.

If anyone wants to do a rewatch, don’t!
