During the last open enrollment, I switched from BCBS to MHBP. I just got a bill saying I owe union dues, and I must pay if I want to stay enrolled in MHBP.

I am not a postal mail handler, and I don't remember seeing anything in the enrollment materials about having to pay union dues. I certainly didn't get any notices from HR.

It's not a large amount, and I don't mind paying, but if I don't pay, and they drop me, what happens? Will HR treat it as a life event and let me change insurance?
