So named because of its distinct, black crest that resembles the traditional shikha hairstyle worn by Brahmins in India. The Brahminy starling's specific name, pagodarum, is presumably in honour of this species' fondness for perching on buildings and temple pagodas.

Scattered widely across Nepal and India, it is found in scrub jungles and dry forests, often close to marshy lands. As with other starlings, it is omnivorous, feeding on insects and fruit. The species does not lead an arboreal life, but does build nests in tree cavities.

This one was shot in Keoladeo National Forest.

Why don't US restaurants and establishments carry half bottles? It has puzzled me for years. I go to Europe and I get a half bottle with my dinner--economical, easy to finish by one person, and the opportunity to taste different wines without wasting or breaking the bank.
