Reminder Regarding Community Conduct
In light of recent events, we’d like to remind everyone of our expectations regarding privacy, speculation, and conduct within the subreddit.
Please do not share the names, addresses, social media accounts, workplaces, schools, or any other identifying information of minors or their family members unless that information has been officially released by law enforcement. Under Section 110 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, identifying information about young persons involved in the youth justice system is protected from publication. Violations may result in legal consequences.
We also ask that users refrain from posting rumors, speculation, or unverified claims. Please wait for information to be confirmed by the RCMP or credible news sources before sharing it, and exercise caution with information circulating on social media. We have already removed multiple false claims from the subreddit and will continue to do so.
At this time, we can confirm that today’s shooting and bombing threat has NOT been linked to Monday’s incident. We can also confirm that none of the individuals involved in Monday’s incident have returned to school grounds.
Additionally, threats of violence toward minors, regardless of the circumstances, will not be tolerated. Any threats found to be credible WILL be reported to the RCMP.
We understand emotions are running high, but we ask everyone to keep discussions factual, lawful, and respectful while the matter continues to be investigated.
