I’ve seen some posts regarding this but was wondering if any Y standard owners also had this issue. I took delivery of my model Y standard AWD about 1 month ago. Since then I’ve noticed there’s a noticeable vibration at the steering wheel starting at around 70mph which only gets worse as speed increases. It’s really bad at 80-85. The standard comes with 18” steelies with hankook EVO AS suv tires with the foam inside. I’ve had 4 service visits regarding this issue. Located in NY.

First visit they balanced the tires and found that the rear drivers side was slightly out of balance. They balanced the tire, but the vibration was still there.

Second visit they balanced the tires again and found no imbalance and this time they inspected the suspension and found nothing wrong. They chalked it up to the inferior suspension in the Y standard. After this visit, I’ve noticed the vibration was even worse and was now happening at lower speeds at 45mph. Also after this visit I’ve noticed a clunking/rattling from the front left side at low speeds when going over a bump with the left front tire.

Brought the car in the next day this time was seen by the service manager and went on a road test. He confirmed the vibration but could not replicate the clunking. This time he balanced the wheel without the tire on and found a slight bend on the right front tire. Both front wheels were replaced and this time a road force balancing was performed and wheel weights were installed. I was hopeful the vibration would be fixed, but it was still there.

Fourth visit, went out with another service supervisor and he confirmed vibration. As a test, a set of wheels and tires from a new standard model Y was put on my car and road test was performed and they confirmed the vibration was still there. At this point it was concluded that this was a characteristic of the vehicle. I’ve pushed for tire replacement since the new wheels and tires they used to test were still the Hankook ion EVO. They’ve checked the foam and they were intact. As a side note they traced the clunking sound to worn engine mounts along with the upper control arm mounts and that was replaced. This did not fix the issue as the clunk/rattle is still there and has not even improved at all.

At this point I’m at a loss what to do. I’ve test driven both the standard and the premium before purchasing and decided on the standard because I was able to live with the downgrades. The vibrating however I don’t think I can live with. Wondering what my options are here. Buyback? Lemon? Vehicle replacement? Will the premium have the same issue?

TLDR: Model Y standard 2026 AWD vibrating at high speeds. 2 front wheels were replaced. Road force balancing done. Was told it is a characteristic of the vehicle. Exploring options.
