I remember reading a book as a kid in the early 2000s about a kid asking his mother about where monsters hide during the day. I remember a goblin hiding in a trash can on the cover. Near the end he meets a goblin type monster king / queen underground? Takes place in his house possibly, last time I remember reading this book I was a young kid years ago, bonus points to anyone who can help find it, I have no idea what the title was but I’ve been looking for it lately
