I had my main shut-off valve replaced a few months back. The plumber soldered a new valve on the existing 1" pipe, but the new joint leaked, so they had to cut it off and re-solder.

The soldered joins hold just fine, but the valve itself is leaking at its seam where the two halves of the body meet.

The leak is weak, more like sweating, but it is there nonetheless. The problem is that there is not much pipe left, as they had to cut the pipes and redo the job.

How can this be repaired? Is there an option to create a "sleeve" around the seam, say, with 2-part epoxy, for example, to seal the leak? If not, how can the valve be replaced in this situation?

I got a replacement, but that one came without a floater.
