First time having money this summer at an internship, how should I invest it for graduation in a year?

I managed to secure an internship this summer where I'll likely be making around $13,000, more money than I've ever had before. I'm lucky to be staying at my parents for the summer so I won't have much expenses. I want to have money for when I graduate college next year, for an apartment and what not. How should I invest it?

Some people say high yield savings account will be enough, some people say to start building retirement with S&P 500 and a Roth IRA. I'm not sure what to do, or what the best option would be. Regardless just having it sit in my normal savings account won't help me much.

Any help is appreciated.
