House is typical 70's bilevel cookie cutter layout with 1' cantilever on front and back. Existing 12x24 deck is build off rear cantilever with 3 posts on far side and just ledger on exiting house rim joist which is nailed to house floor joists. I got an approval on a 2x10 ledger and joists. He said I can secure the ledger by drilling long ledger screws into the house's floor joists and it'll be solid. I'm concerned about that and have seen other ways to also make it secure but none that appear to meet code. Am I overthinking it? It'll be a 15x35 deck 9' tall 4 posts double 2x12 beam.
