Lately, I’ve been noticing a pattern in a couple of projects I’ve done

Everything feels clear at the start
We agree on scope, timelines, payment, etc.

But somewhere in the middle, things start getting weird

like:
– “I thought this was included.”
– “Can we just tweak this one thing?”
– revisions going back and forth way more than expected

And when I go back and read the contract, technically it’s there… but not really clear

So it’s not like anyone is wrong, just… misaligned

I’m starting to feel like the issue isn’t having a contract, it’s that both sides interpret it differently

Curious if others have faced this?

What usually causes this in your experience — bad contracts, or just assumptions that never get clarified?

Not sure if this is just me overthinking or something real

But lately, I’ve been noticing a pattern with freelancers and small projects

A lot of people don’t really pay attention to agreements at the start

It’s usually like:
“Let’s just start.”
“We’ll figure it out.”
Or some random template gets reused

And everything seems fine in the beginning

But then, halfway through, things start getting messy

scope changes
payments get awkward
expectations don’t match

and suddenly the “small thing” becomes a big issue

I’ve seen this happen a few times now, and it feels like one of those problems people only take seriously after getting burned once

not saying it’s a huge issue, but it feels more common than people talk about

Curious if others here have seen similar situations, or is this just part of the game?
