I just posted about an old photo album that I found. But I also found quite a few tin photographs that I believe do belong to my family line. Are these photos safe to scan?

Hi, new here 👋 my mom passed away this past year and while going through her belongings I found a very old photo album of people that are not of my lineage. I believe I know who the photos are of. When I was very young an older lady lived with us. She was never married and had no children of her own. When she passed she left everything to my parents including three plots at her family's grave site. So I potentially have her name, dob/dod as well as her parents who are listed on the large headstone but no more than that. I hate to just throw away this piece of someone's history. And while the woman who lived with us had no surviving immediate family when she passed I'm sure there is extended family that could be connected to this photo album.
So my question is what is the best way to share these photos and names? My first thought was Ancestry.com but I'm not sure if there are better options for this type of scenario. The photo album is still local to where she lived and died so I was also thinking of giving it to state archives? Any other tips or guidance would be much appreciated.
