What used to be a gorgeous, peaceful, established, family neighborhood, and the reason I bought here seven years ago l, has turned into a no-tell-motel hell scape thanks to AirBnB.

Once again, I’ve come home from a long day at work today and get to listen to ten drunks in the backyard of the short-term rental 50 feet from my living room. It’s 5:00pm and it’s Thursday. Not just this Thursday though. It’s every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Move you say? Sure, I’d be glad to but, home values have more than doubled since I bought here. My salary hasn’t.

Within 1/4 of a mile in the last 3 years, 10 houses have become AirBnB properties. Some are cared for, some are not. Some sit empty, some are busy constantly. The clientele, shockingly poorly behaved.

The solution…outlaw short term rentals in residentially zoned properties. I didn’t buy in a mixed use zone intentionally, neither did any of my neighbors.

Get this blight out of our family spaces and put it where it belongs, in commercial zones where the rest of the for profit businesses are.
