Long story short, I graduated with an accounting degree in December 2025. My firm did a massive layoff today after busy season ended. Very grimy and disrespectful to do this to 1st year associates.

I want out of the industry. I’m looking to go into pre med and eventually med school. I’m not doing it just for the money. I actually want to change somebody’s life instead of making filthy corporations richer while staring at excel for 12 hours a day.

My question: Do I do a DIY post bacc and take out private loans? Do I do a second degree and use federal loans? If I do a second degree, can I just take the required courses that med schools want to see and not finish the 2nd degree?

Not really open to working, considering I probably wouldn’t even get hired right now. The accounting industry is not looking good. Thankful to be living at home with my parents (I’m 23). But I don’t want them assisting me, and not even sure if they can assist much. It’s all on me.

Any advice would help, thanks a lot
