I'm looking into seeking ACC cover for treatment for anorexia nervosa, which developed immediately after I suffered a covered severe neck injury. Turns out suddenly becoming very aware of your body and how it moves through the world (along with living in constant significant pain) can really mess you up.
However, this injury was 20 years ago. I've been living with anorexia ever since then, at differing badness levels, and it has now reached the point where inpatient treatment is my best option to recover. ACC will cover this for mental injury caused by sensitive claims, but I'm unsure if mental injury subsequent to physical injury will cut it.
I understand that getting mental injury cover for a physical injury is very difficult. I really don't want to go through what seems like a demanding process if the fact it's been two decades of suffering between injury and seeking treatment is automatically going to rule it out.
