We applied for TR in New Brunswick, NJ and it was very easy! We used the WhatsApp number (424-309-0009) to set our appointments via a bot. You must do one per person in your family. I was a little stressed that we didn’t all get the same day appts via the bot.
The next day, someone emailed the checklist of everything we need. Then we gathered those documents and emailed them back for pre-approval. They very quickly responded, even late at night. And they had no issue switching our appts to the same time and answering all our dumb questions. Our appts were about 3 weeks out from when I first texted, but sooner dates were offered.
Upon arrival we immediately were seen. The woman at the counter took our paperwork, asked where we were going in MX, and then disappeared for about 45 minutes. Then they came out and took photos and fingerprints. Another 30 minutes later, we had our visas, paid via credit card, and were on our way! So, we were in and out in about 1.5 hours. Not many other people were there at the same time— two other sets of customers. We had two different sets of proofs of solvency, so I imagine if we were married it would have been faster because there would have half as many bank statements to review.
For bank statements (whether to show 12 months of a $75k balance or 6 months of sufficient payroll deposits), they needed to be stamped or you needed a simple verification letter from the bank (many banks process that via online request and get it back within 24 hours). Payroll printouts were fine; no letter from employer was needed. The rest was all standard: two photos, copies of passports, birth certificate for a minor (both parents must be present), and the applications.
This consulate was so easy and the staff were so very kind, both the person handling email questions and the staff in the office! There’s also a parking garage a block away which made it extra easy to visit.
