Better resort for family with kids during the summer? ACE or AOTG?

Looking to take a family of 2 adults and 4 kids (ages 7, 9, 9 and 11) to New River Gorge this summer, wondering which is the better resort for families with kids who may be too young/small to do ALL the activities offered? Looks like a lot of big attractions (bridge walk, zipline) are for kids older than 7, so I just want to make sure the youngest one can still do a lot of fun stuff.

I was leaning toward ACE due to other message board reviews, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I also noticed some people saying ACE is more rustic (farther, no wifi or cell service, etc...), I don't think we would miss the wifi since we are there to spend time outside, but just looking for opinions.

What are some good, kid-friendly activities to do outside of the resorts?

Thanks for the help!

Looking for some guidance and suggestions. We have a family of 6, with four kids aged 7 -11. We are from Missouri and trying to plan a family vacation for this summer, specifically July. This is our only option for a family vacation time due to kids school and sports schedule, July is the only month we all have off (if we could vacation in a cooler month we would, but it is what it is). We have never been to Arkansas, but our kids love the outdoors, swimming, and I think they would really have fun at the diamond mining.

What I want to know is, do you think we could still have an enjoyable vacation with the high summer heat?

Like I said we are limited to July due to school and sports, and with 4 kids I was hoping to keep our drive at 8 hours or less, so Arkansas seemed like a great option, but I am open to suggestions! For anyone that says its too hot and the kids wouldn't have fun, do you have any drivable (from Missouri) alternatives for kids aged 7-11? Just trying my best to plan a fun family vacation that doesn't cost as much as a Disney trip these days, and is hopefully still a lot of fun. 😄
