I recently had my first eye exam and was given two relatively low level prescriptions, one for farsighted and one for nearsighted. When I went in, I told them I mostly needed glasses for driving and just wanted the distance lenses. They confirmed they were placing an order for a pair for distance and recommended anti glare for driving. We had a full conversation about it. I purchased them and got them in the mail. This was a couple weeks ago. My eyes never adjusted and they made me feel sick at first. I felt like things were blurry far away but when I took them off it took a minute for my eyes to adjust so I questioned it. I looked it up a few times and thought my eyes were adjusting based on what I found.

Today I took them in to be adjusted and was told they accidentally made me the reading lenses. I have been wearing them on and off the past couple weeks, drove with them several times, and was feeling sick for a few days when I started wearing them. I know a little dumb on my end but I didn’t know any better since it’s my first time having glasses. Everyone I talked to with glasses told me it’s just an adjustment period and it will get better if I wear them more. The lady looked concerned that I was driving with them and when I looked into it, it is not safe because it makes it harder for your eyes to adjust and can impact reaction time.

They made me give those glasses back for exchange. I’m glad I’m getting the right prescription but frustrated I was told something incorrect which put me in an unsafe situation. I feel like I should at least get to keep those lenses but don’t even know how I would prove the person placed a different order than what we agreed to. Should I try to advocate for myself or just take the L? Is this normal?
