Okay I’m here asking the honest opinion of you who are diagnosed and know this more than just the internet articles.
I have been complaining to drs about severe pain for years. I recently got married and this became sexually active, and yes there’s pain with that every time.
I’m nearing perimenopause now, and my periods seem to have gotten lighter but I used to have to wear a tampon and a pad and change them out every hour or two. Now I don’t have to use both and don’t have to change them out as frequently.
Every time before my cycle I have severe pain that makes me bedridden as I have to be connected to a heating pad. I don’t eat or drink much during that week because when I get up to use the restroom leaving the heating pad causes the pain to amplify until I’m in fetal position crying, and takes hours to calm back down.
I tend to get constipated and bloated the week before my cycle. The day my cycle starts I can finally go to the bathroom, but usually bleed out my rectum for a day or two and then I bleed out of the proper area. (Yes I’m sure it’s from the rectum and not the other hole.
Drs keep telling me there’s nothing they can do. They diagnosed me with PCOS, which seems to answer some but not all of my symptoms. Last time I went in they told me they would only offer a hysterectomy since insurance doesn’t cover a surgery to check for endo. I sobbed and they wrote in their notes about how I was crying but not about the list of symptoms I came in about. They gave me a shot or an NSAID, which did nothing, did an intrauterine ultrasound and sent me home feeling unheard. (Also that ultrasound wasn’t covered by insurance since it was “experimental/investigational”
I live in a rural area and don’t have much availability as far as drs who specialize in the woman’s reproductive system. I don’t want to remove my organs in hopes that against odds my husband and I might be able to conceive (we know chances are extremely low due to age and reproductive issues).
Could this be endo? Would you travel for another opinion (this would require my husband having to take PTO to drive me a few hours for a dr who may or may not listen). Where do I go from here? Is there even any help if I did get heard? Due to family history hormone therapy is not advised, and I’m allergic to most oral NSAIDS.
Background: in United States; PCOS, chronic migraine, and other conditions present.
