Hi there! I am planning a Mario Kart tournament for a party this weekend. There will be about 20 people in attendance. This is a party first then a MK tournament second so it doesn't need to be THAT serious. No one probably has played recently so keep in mind this is for newbies/beginners. I do have two Switch 2's available for use, and 10 joycons. Here's what i was thinking for setup, but I am more than open to suggestions. I don't want it to last more than 2ish hours so people aren't expected to stay longer than reasonable. The idea I currently have definitely sucks a little because your advancement isn't dependent on your score, and depending on who you end up in a round with, can be advantage or disadvantage.

ONE TV & Switch 2: practice only/casual gameplay

Main TV & Switch 2: Main Tournament. Roster style

5 groups of 4 people each, self sign up (obviously can be some advantage here in knowing who would suck at this game).

Round 1: 20 ppl, 5 Grand Prixs of 4 people each. Winner from each round advances (5 winners) + the next top 3 scores.

Round 2: 8 people, 2 Grand Prixs of 4 people each. Top 2 from each round advance to final four.

Round 3: Final Four, Grand Prix (winner of this wins). Also, depending on how this is going/if there's time, I guess I could ask these four if they'd prefer to do a Top 2 advance to a Final 2

Should I include the bots (i think so?)? Any special rules I should consider? Smart Steering on for all? Frantic items?

THANK YOU. I'm new to this so appeciate any expert advice!!
