Restaurants take your menus after ordering to cover up their mistakes
If you don't have a menu to compare what is placed in front of you with what you ordered, the waiter can just lie. This allows the kitchen to redistribute dishes as necessary when they make mistakes, reducing the expense of wasted ingredients & labor while avoiding accountability from the customer. Anyone who disagrees is just labeled as having a bad memory or being a Karen, since the customer has no evidence to refute the restaurant's claim.
My sandwich was delicious regardless, btw.
